how can you prefer a system that still allows for fines an confiscation of marijuana based on an arbitrary weight, you may not get an arrest but you still have $100 and the loss of the $400 oz you just got

It's a step up from actually time in jail but will agree it should just be taxed like every other substance people purchase.

Awesome!

The law goes into effect January 1. Even if Prop 19 passes in November, it leaves in place misdemeanor charges for smoking in public or in the presence of minors. Those misdemeanors would become infractions under the new law.
Yes! I was worried about that.

Cool, I live in Cali and this is the first I've heard of this, but the Prop 19 people have been calling me to volunteer for the November vote to legalize constantly.

The only reason I can see people preferring decriminalization is greed. What did you mean by "better move on California's part"? This isn't an either or deal; Prop 19 still goes up for vote on Nov 2.

Yeah. I think I remember he was once asked if he had done drugs, he said no, he just smoked pot. As for the antichrist taking over his job, I'm not sure which of the two candidates you're talking about. But in any case, I think that at least on social issues he's been a pretty forward-thinking governor.

Looks like one of the benefits of the economic collapse is that states can't afford to prosecute minor marijuana offenders anymore.

i can't remember the name, i just know it was a women and all indications suggested she would basically undo everything arnold did and then turn it into a prison state, which would be interesting since they now have every drug user on a list

Ah, you mean Meg Whitman. As I understand it, the latest polling shows Jerry Brown slightly ahead. But it's a close race. Californians, for more a few reasons, this may be the most important election you'll ever vote in. Get off your stoned asses and rock the vote.
