Question about direct\indirect sunlight

I've been frequenting here recently to try and get the most out of my work.. What I call indirect sunlight is: "sunlight through a window", but maybe you guys' definition differs from mine..
I put my terrarium in a window sill that gets the most light, but the sun shines directly on it while still maintaining temps, etc. Is the sun shining directly on my terrarium, through a window, direct sunlight or indirect sunlight?
Furthermore, if it is, would 3 days of direct sunlight on a casing to initiate pinning be bad? And would there be any negative effect on my grow if I was to take it out of the window and change lighting cycles?
I'm doing searches but coming up with a lot of different answers that don't specifically answer these questions..
Thanks for your input. Oh, and "Hi!"

I think you answered your own question.
Direct sunlight can heat the SURFACE of the cakes (or whatever) without rising ambient temps within the terrarium too much, doing harm.
Best to be in INDIRECT sunlight.

Got it, thanks.. Do you think it will recover if I just drop it below the window sill?

Well I did it anyway... Thanks for the quick reply. So the surface of the casing will heat up doing harm.. hopefully it didnt harm them as the suns been on it 1212 for 3 days.. with no signs of pinning.. so i hope I caught it in time...
Thanks for all this information!

you might have slowed the pinning process down by damaging you mycelia but give it some time and it should recover. i cant tell you how many times ive damaged my cakes(not from direct sunlight)and they have still come through....sometime you will get less of a harvest from it but it should give you a decent flush still

Reading about that from RR.. 5-10 minutes..
I covered with foil for the first 3 days and mycellium was poking through, so I patched and put in the terrarium where it's been for about 3 days getting direct sunlight 12\12 and no mycelium has poked through the casing layer since.. (think this is normal) I dunno if the casing is meant to be colonized or what.. Anyway I'll give it a couple weeks and report back..
My friend and I were mushroom huntin', and I just said, not 4-5 days ago, to "look in the shady spots!"...
Guess I should listen to myself more often.. lol

Sunlight this time of year when the sun is lower on the horizon is just fine. If it's being diffused by a window and by a fruiting chamber, it's not really direct sunlight. As long as the tub isn't heating up excessively inside, it's fine. The sunlight won't damage the mycelium. It's a good pinning trigger, but obviously not the biggest one. You still need lots of fresh air, and misting to replace the lost moisture.
My biggest and best performing substrates right now are the ones outdoors in direct sun most of the day. Obviously, someone in a hot climate won't put substrates outdoors in direct sun, but if your outdoor temperatures are cool, then it's great. RR

This is exactly what I've learned, and why I asked about light through a window and then a fruiting chamber.
Again, will post results in 2 weeks for follow-up.. I really appreciate your input.. You do a lot of good stuff here.

RR, I've noticed you talk about using direct sunlight for 10-15 minutes a day to initiate pinning on the forum. I'm on my first grow right now, and it worked great for me, in addition to the natural light I have coming into my FC from a frosted glass window.
But now that I have pins, and I develop fruits, should I continue the sunlight regimen (or as tell my wife, taking my Fungus for a walk).

RR is most likely not going to respond, as he has basically retired.
I would just have them on a 12/12 of artificial lighting while fruiting now.
