so everyone gets the munchies... what's your fave recipe?

here's an old favorite of my roomie and me:

cheesy spuds

stuff you need:
1-2 small new potatoes per person
cheese (the kind that comes already grated is the best, or velveeta slices)
butter
bacon bits
seasoning salt
foil or saran wrap

OK take the potatoes and stab a few times with a fork. take butter and lightly coat outside of the potatoes, then sprinkle with seasoning salt. depending on how much time you want to spend on these you can either
a)wrap in foil and bake in oven for 15 minutes at 450 degrees, or
b)wrap in saran wrap and nuke em for about 7 minutes per serving, or until soft. (be sure to flip the potatoes halfway through, or the bottom part will be tough.)

after the potatoes are done cooking, remove the wrap and cut each potato into bite-size chunks. lay the chunks out flat on a plate, skin side down, and lightly butter. next sprinkle lightly with seasoning salt. then add however much cheese you want and bacon bits. nuke until cheese is melted, about 1-2 minutes.

Here is my recipe for Buffalo wings.

What you need:
1 Lb chicken wings per person ( I like to cut up a breast into bite sized pieces, more like buffalo nuggets, boneless! )
1 large bottle of Franks Red Hot. ( you can substitute w/ your favorite )
1/2 brick butter ( Not margarine, it will not taste good Imo but it would work I guess....)
1 cup flour per lb of chicken
Large Zip lock bag
Blue Cheese salad dressing
Canola Oil

What to do:

Put the chicken in a bowl and cover with hot sauce. Let it marinade for at least 1 hour. Mix 1 cup hot sauce w/ 1 cup clarified butter. To clarify the butter just put the whole brick in a small pot. Heat it up on medium until the butter separates. Spoon the gunk off the top and keep the bottom. Heat up a frying pan and add about 3/4" of canola oil. The way to tell when the oil is hot enough is to stick a wooden handle in and if you see lots of bubbles it is ready. Put the chicken in the zip lock bad and add the flour. blow a bit of air in the bag and shake to coat. Fry the chicken on each side until golden then flip ( approximately 2 min a side ). Put the chicken on some paper towel to dry for 3 min. Then remove to a large bowl and pour the hot sauce / butter combo over and mix.

Ultimate Nachos:

1 package 6" corn tortillas
1 can refried beans
1 package shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
1 jar sliced Jalepeno Peppers
1+1/2 cups corn oil

Heat the oil in a sauce pan until a drop of water causes it to spit. Fry the tortillas one at a time keeping them as flat as possible (use tongs) until they are golden and bubbling slows way down (crisp, not burnt).

Spread the refried beans on each tortilla about 3/16" thick.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese on each liberally.
Place several (4-8) jalepeno slices on each one.
Put the tortillas under the broiler until the cheese bubbles.
Remove and chop into quarters, serve immediately.

YUM!!!  :grin:

Worlds greatest crab dip.


1 8oz package of cream cheese
1 6oz can of cooked crabmeat
2 tbsp dried minced onion
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp horse raddish
1/4 tsp salt
dash pepper
1/4 cup of sliced almonds
1 box Stoned Wheat Thins crackers

Put the package of cream cheese in a mixing bowl and nuke for 30 seconds to soften it. Drain all of the water out of the canned crabmeat and add it to the cream cheese. Then add the minced onion, milk, horseraddish, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Put it all in a baking bowl. Brown the almond slices in butter in a pan, then pour them on top of the crab dip to cover it completely. Place the whole thing in in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Take it out and spread it over the crackers. Enjoy!

This is the best appetizer recipie you will ever eat. You have to try it.

Well, I know some of you hate the French, and some of you may even hate the thought of quiche, even though it is pretty much an omlet in a pie shell, here a recipe for what I call a Texas Quiche. I love quiche, becuase it is tasty, and because I am a student on a budget, and it is pretty damn cheap,

Texas Quiche

1/4 lb Hot Ground Sausage
2 c Milk
3 Eggs
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp cayanne pepper 3 tbs or hot sause
4 chopped Fresh jalapeno peppers
1/2 can Green chilie peppers
1/2 cup Mexican cheese (also substitute pepper jack)
1 Pie shell

Combine sausage and jalapeno peppers in fry until sausage is done. Combine, eggs, salt, milk, cayanne pepper or hot sause, chille peppers in bowl and mix. Place sausage and pepper mixture to bottome of pie shell, and add custard mixture. Bake at 375 for 30-45 minutes.

I can usually make 4 quiches for under $10, and eat off them all week. When you're a broke-ass student it's a good meal. I also make a killer spaghetti using ground sausage in place of hamburger, and adding jalapenos and habanero peppers to the sause.

Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms

They look, smell, and taste utterly divine, and are beautiful served on a bed of lettuce with a couple of scallions for a garnish.
1 8-oz. package cream cheese
1 t. horseradish mustard
1 t. dill seed
1/2 t. paprika
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
16-20 medium mushrooms, peeled
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Remove stems from mushrooms by twisting and pulling. Put all the other ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly (we found that mixing by hand, although messy, did the job quite well). Place a heaping teaspoon or so of the cream cheese mixture onto the exposed bottom of each mushroom cap. Place mushrooms in a baking pan, cream cheese side up, with about 1/8-inch of water (to keep them moist) and bake for 10-20 minutes, or until the cream cheese is slightly browned. Remove mushrooms from water before serving

dang! those look good!!

at some really nice restaurant my parents take us to, they have something simular to this, except the mushrooms are cooked in a olive oil with a really garlicy/buttery taste.

MMMmmm...

Boil some water
Meanwhile chop up some cubes and mix them with som raw honey
Poor water over it
Let it cool down to about 15°c
Add champagne yeast
Let ferment for a week or 2
Close it off for a day so it can carbonate
You got champigne
Drink and trip balls
