Album review: George Harrison - "Wonderwall"
    #1316335 - 02/18/03 08:17 AM (21 years, 1 month ago)

I?ve come to review George Harrison?s "Wonderwall Music"  album. In 1968, this soundtrack to the "Wonderwall" movie  would become the first solo album by any of the Beatles.

This album is now out of print, but one can aquire it as an expensive import , through ebay, or, as I did, find a friend who will copy it for you. It?s funny how many channels I went through to get mine. Gabba DJ sent me my copy, which he downloaded from Sheepish, who downloaded it from some other person on a file sharing system. This album review goes out to both Sheepish and Gabba DJ. Thanks guys.

This album will appeal to people who either

1) Really like The Beatles
2) Are into eastern religious music
3) Smoke weed
4) Meditate

Although there is very very little singing (and none that could be recognized as Harrison?s)this album is full of many different sounds and instruments. There is a song that resembles circus music to me, a piano track, one track centered around people saying "Om"("Singing Om"), one that sounds like music from a western, and even a rocker that sounds like Clapton or Harrison playing. "Wonderwall" is loaded with sitar and various other Indian instruments. If you like sitar, you will love this album. It?s a very spiritual album.

This isn?t the kind of album that would ever have a single, but it could be, and probably has been a good starter album for someone looking to get into eastern music such as myself. My favorite track on the album is "Crying". It sounds very similar to Harrison?s "Within You Without You" from Sgt. Pepper.

I give this album 4 sugarcubes*

I love that album! I bought it on vinyl back in '79, and sadly it's in storage now. I should really get the CD version. Thanks for reminding me about that wonderful album!

Get that sucker out of storage Pap!

Then put it on the turntable, pack a bowl and meditate.

"Cowboy Museum" is one of the tracks. For a track listing, click on the "Wonderwall Music" link in the first paragraph.

That's cool. I just heard part of it today for the first time. If I had that track, i'd re-burn "Wonderwall Music" and add that track.

I don't have any file sharing system. Don't worry about it. I'm not that concerned right now.

Thanks anyway bro.
