Psychoactive agents in Sour Diesel strain

Sour diesel keeps me awake and alert, but high as fuck. Similar to jack herr
I don't understand how sour Diesel has such a different high from Purple Kush, which puts me to sleep.

I was under the impression that THC was the only significantly psychoactive agent in weed.

What causes different highs in cannabis?
