Mushroom Identifiers Quiz!! Pls L@@K!
    #12940308 - 07/23/10 11:00 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Okay folks some of you guys have been a fantastic help in the past and I need a really big favour again.

You see two years ago I decided to check out an old spot I went fishing over a decade before that had stuck in my mind and jackpot, shrooms galore!

However farmer *Giles* was soon out asking what it was I was up to.

Not wanting to miss such an opportunity I explained I was an amateur mycologist photographing and studying fungal growth.

He was intrigued and to cut a long story short after a long conversation asked if I could send him a copy of my report on what was found.

Unfortunately I lent out the memory stick with all the piccies on. I have only just finally received it back but would dearly love for Giles to have his report sent before the coming season as I left it last season and they were everywhere the year before!

Can anyone give me possible species for any of the pics below? Even if it's a toss up between a few, that is okay as I told him I was an amateur!

Habitat: Pasture (one or two woodland)
Location: UK
Time: October

I see Armillaria, Panaeolus, Deconica, Hygrocybe, Stropharia, maybe Bolbitius, etc...
Very cool pics, but too unstructured for a proper ID request, sorry.

No actives. Inactive mushrooms formerly known as Psilocybe that have been shifted to the genus Deconica, yes.

Nice snaps!

1-2 Armillaria (Honey mushrooms) Edible
5-6 Deconica
7 Maybe Inocybe
10-13 Deconica coprophila
14 Stropharia semiglobata
15-17 Maybe Agrocybe
18 Hygrocybe
19 Stropharia semiglobata
20-23 Bolbitius
24 Hygrophorus or Hygrocybe
25 Deconica
26 Maybe Agrocybe
27 Maybe Panaeolus
28 Maybe Pluteus
30 Maybe Agrocybe
33 Maybe Entoloma

Hopefully this will get you pointed in the right direction. As GK said, there's not enough organized info for real good ID's on most of these. Mushrooms should be shot top and bottom for better IDs.

Looks like you found quite a variety in that field!

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.
