I have heard that instead of just pumping air into water it might be better to use a jar filled with perlite and a little peroxide and water in the bottom and pump the air into this. Your exhause holes should be just above the perlite layer. You can just drill or poke a hole with a pencil. One thing that I hate about styrofom is you have to adjust the lid so you can get light in without opening.

With cakes I think the airpump is more trouble than its worth. Just fan the terrarium once or twice a day and with perlite you're good to go.

Seriously, airpumps are cool but they are overkill for cakes.

Thanks for the advice. I think that I might still try out the air pump because I know that I will have to go away for a few days at a few different times, and I have heard some horror stories here about neglected cakes. Thanks again.
