The hygrometer response should be linear, so there won?t be much difference if you calibrate it at 75% or 90%.
Natrium chloride is just very, very convenient for calibration sicnce its humidity level is nearly independant of temperature.

There are other salts though for calibration at different humidity levels.

yeah see these little digital hygrometers never really calibrate right, none of em',,, youknow, like when it gets past 90 or 95 it just goes to High.

I use mine now for the air in my house, good rule of thumb is learning to judge humidity by just foggyness on the walls and the lid not quite yet drippy, of_courseyou probably already knew that.just a style.

peace.

Mine Peaks at 95%....right about where the humidity should be.....yes it reads a HI after that but thinking about it...does it really matter....generaly if you are accurate in the median ranges you wont be more than 1-2% off in the high and low ranges

Supposedly the best one come from Cigar shops and only cost about 20 bucks.

there is little difference in the one from a cigar shop and thos from wal-mart, the accuracy of cheap plastic Hygrometes is crappy at best. you can find some bi- metalic ones that are more accurate and more expensive. Digitals tend to be more accurate and untill your are willing to spend a little extra cash you will almost always have questions about accuracy.
