and i have no problem with it at all, i beleive it has many good effects, and very few bad.
but i am getting tired of people saying "oh, marijuana isnt a drug, its a plant, it grows from the ground, so i can smoke it" blah blah bullshit. its just getting annoying, i mean im not gonna go smoke poison ivy, are you?? eh is anyone feelin this kinda shit?

the reason they say it's not a "drug" is because "drug" is given negative connotations and cannabis is often grouped with heron, meth, etc.

marijuana is a plant ... it's true
so are heavenly blues,
and cactus too
but they all contain chemicals that can alter your consciousness
but when everything is made up of atoms, and molecules, and we have the decision for what chemicals to ingest , then we call them drugs
but everything is still made from a bunch of atoms/molecules anyway.
so it all depends on the context of your discussion, if your talking about plants, then it's a plant
if your talking about drugs then its a drug.

It's considered a drug when it's psychoactive or used in medicinal ways.

cannabis fits all of those definitions.

MJ can leave me feeling as brain dead as any opiate can and other times as creative as any psychedelic. MJ is good, MJ addiction is questionable.

Marijuana itself isn't a drug, it's true. It's a plant. But yes, it most definitely contains a drug(s).
Anyone who says otherwise is just as hypocritical as people who don't think of alcohol as a drug.

When people say "it's just a plant" obviously they don't believe that it is a plant that DOES NOT contain psychoactives in it. Everyone knows pot has drugz in it.
Like the first response in this thread pointed out, people say this to prevent it from being lumped in with "hard drugs" like the propaganda tends to do. (Marijuana makes people feel good and releases dopamine, much like heroin  ).
Saying "it's just a plant" is pretty much propaganda for marijuana acceptance and legalization. It gets dumb people to think about it and go "holy shit, this has been cultivated and used for thousands of years because its a plant that is useful for humans, why the hell are we declaring a war on this plant?"

this. there are very mild withdrawal symptoms but it is less than that of a small hangover if you were drinking.
i find myself wanting to smoke but i do not feel any need.

Marijuana is good not because it's a plant but because it's good. Its virtues, as a plant, contribute to its status as "good," however. That scattershot mess of benign but psychoactive terpenoids does things for us no synthesized or even extracted powder, crystal, tar, resin, tincture, blahblahblah could ever hope to match.
I can't wait to get home and

i love pot. it is just a plant but people tend to over think that and act like its still not abusable and a drug.
it can be used for more than just good. ive done it myself.
people cant just act like its JUST A PLANT....yea its just a plant. that has strong psycoactive properties.and anything that is psycoactive can be used for good and bad.

It is a drug but some people,like McKenna, separate more harmless things like psychedelics and marijuana from the word "drug" because of it's negative connotations.

i feel and think that marijuana isnt a typical drug so i dont relate it to them. but when it does come down to it, it a drug in every way.
