Outdoor Cultivation Teks?

Well when I start up my 18 gallon monotub I'll be PC'ing 7 quart jars filled 3/4 of the way with properly prepared rye berries (using RR's tek) which will give me 5.25 quarts of spwan to throw in to the monotub with 10 quarts of coir/verm substrate.
I just got to thinking about outdoor cultivation too.
Anybody have any links to good outdoor teks?
Can I use coir/verm as a substrate like in a monotub or do I have to use straw and horse poo and/or compost?
I don't think my temps are right yet.Mid-high 80's in the daytime but as low as 66-67 at night...also humidity today was only at 73% or 76%.

Those temps are fine, seriously. When we do indoor grows, we can control the climate, so we go for optimal conditions.
The cool thing about outdoor beds is that you don't have to pasteurize your substrate mix, and it should fruit all summer long.
Look in the outdoor section of the cultivation archive. You should find a tek in there that will suit you.

Fucking awesome...I didn't realize you don't have to pasteurize the substrate mix....why is that though?

We pasteurize indoor subs so they don't contaminate future grows, and sporulate all over our homes, clothes, etc. In outdoor grows, there's no need to worry about that, because we just can't control it. Even a pasteurized substrate will have tons of contaminant spores and molds in it by the time you get it all set.

is 5.25 quarts enough for 10 gallons of substrate? thats like a 1:7.5 ratio.
Just curious
maybe you meant 10 quarts of substrate?
