How long can I safely delay a cake from fruiting?
    #12544028 - 05/11/10 04:27 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

As the subject says; how long can I safely delay a cake from fruiting?  I have to be pretty discrete so I have made a stealth fc for the closet complete with daylight fluorescent but it's not big enough to birth all of my cakes into at once.  However I would like to avoid performing sterilization and inoculation at different times.

I want to try a few different teks with the same 'strain' as an expirement so I would like to inoculate and incubate all of my jars at once but only birth a few while keeping the others in a state of incubation for a short period of time until i've fruited the other cakes.

Any advice is appreciated.

You could try keeping the unbirthed cakes in the fridge. The cool temp should slow any further growth to a standstill.

just my 2 cents.

The refrigerator is the only way.  They'll still be good in two or three months, but after that it's less certain.
