So i was walking up a trail from the beach today and there was a guy stopped there with his dog talking to someone behind a bush.
As i walked closer the dog lunges at me and the old man is trying his hardest to hold the dog back, the dog even
has a choke collar on. He has to shove the dog against the bush with his body and yank on the chain as high up as he could.
So i finally get by him and the dog goes to lunge at me again and this was no poodle it was a big dog (im not good with breads)
I tell him "thats a pretty aggressive dog you got there" "ya he just doesnt like some people" and walks off like wtf
I'm actually pretty good with dogs too
A dog like that shouldnt even be out in public what if i was a little kid and the leash slipped out of the owners hand

i cannot stress this enough. PEOPLE NEED TO TRAIN THEIR DOGS RIGHT!
im sick of seeing people scream at their dogs and yank their leashes to listen to them.i live in a realy dog populated city and i always see people who have dogs that shouldnt.
one time i found a dog. and called the owner. she didnt even seem the slightest bit worried her dog wasnt in her back yard. and was to lazy to come and walk 3 blocks to pick him up... she wanted me to bring her her dog to herhouse... yea right.. when she showed up she just grabbed the dog and yelled and it and walked away with out saying a thank you or even showing the littlest bit of graditude and thanks.
i felt like i should have given the dog to the animal shelter not back to that bitch.
my sister has a little wiener dog and that little shit is one of the most ill trained dogs i have seen. she dosnt even try to train it at all. she just moved to arizona and is now thinking of getting rid of the dog since he is chewing everything and shitting everywhere and barking.
a simple fix to train the dog but she is going to get rid of it instead. ...makes me realy sad and mad.i have been trying to help her out with training her dog for about 8 months.
i have a chocolate lab pitbull mix that i have had for about a year now and he is doing a very good job with training.. training a dog is very easy just alot of rutien and repetative work. so its not like i dont know what im talking about when i try to help. she just always feels like im trying to talk shit when i give her advise on the topic..

its not that the dogs shoudlnt be around people. they are animals. they do as animals do. it is up to the owner of that animal to train it so its okay to be around people in public or for the owner to make sure the dog dosnt get to harm anyone or thing.
even if that mean not taking it out around alot of people.

Ya i can't blame the dog for the way he was acting its the owners fault for him acting like that. If your going to
have a dog that goes to attack strangers then you either fix the problem or you dont bring the dog around strangers.

I find people just choose the wrong breeds first and foremost.
You can get away with no training or even exercise provided you choose a naturally docile and friendly breed. That being said, I wouldn't ever do that and even the most chilled dogs I would train and walk daily.
Worst offenders are fuckwits that buy Border Collies and other cattle/work dogs in the suburbs and then never walk it.. FOR FUCKS SAKE.
They look beautiful but you do realise these dogs require 2-3 hours of HARDCORE exercise PER DAY for 10-15 years.

It's kind of sad the treatment domesticated dogs get.
They are overfed to the point of life-threatening obesity and they go without exercise in the slightest.
People also neglect to, as OP said, train their dogs the most basic commands.

i am very proud to have known i have my dog super atentive and almost getting there with realy good training. only a year so far but the fact he wasnt fully untrained when i got him when he was two helps.
dogs actualy love obedience and to be trained.it part of their mindz

After watching the dog whisperer a couple times its so true that they need someone to be in control of,
a leader of the pack like the guy says. If your not that dogs leader he's not going to listen to a thing you say.
I was watching one episode where the cat was the leader and after the cat died the dog started going crazy doing
anything he wanted to

Yeah, there are tons of untrained dogs out there....it sucks, but there's nothing we can really do about it- unless you were to press charges from an attack.

the question here is not one of offense, it's one of public safety
aggressive dogs can seriously injure people -- that is a fact, regardless of what happened in this particular circumstance

So it's if you perceive a threat or an offense it should be banned. Well, maybe what scares or intimidates you, won't me or most. He obviously had control of his dog, it didn't bite you. Stop crying already or go get some cheese, either way.
