small, hallow stems?
    #12495790 - 05/02/10 08:48 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

So, in my greenhouse, some of the casings are have small stems that are hallow.

Everything seems setup okay, the ONLY thing I can think of, is not enough FAE? I have .25-2" holes throughout the whole thing, and a box fan that I have on usually once a day. Should I step up and introduce even more FAE?

If you have a shotgun FC properly made then FAE is not your problem...how long do you run that fan for? What is the temp in the FC? Lighting?

Temp is 75-85. Its not the temp, because teh monotubs are all doing extremely well.

Fan is only on 5-10 min a day , im going to increase that now to 30 min, 3 times a day.

You're going to get a lot better FAE out of a shotgun than a monotub. I still think its not the FAE. 85 is way too warm.

Check out this post from RR

Can't get any more strait up than that.

Ah, that explains it.  Typical know-it-all noob.  We get a few thousand just like you register here every year.  They try a few grows, fail miserably and then after a few months or one bad trip, go back to sniffing glue, never to be seen again.

We have a basic pf tek that's idiot proof enough for noobs to get fucked up with their friends.

Mycologists on the other hand grow for the love of growing.  They want to experiment with various species, substrates, and fruiting environments. They'll move on to isolate strains, attempt hybridization, and in general treat cultivation as an artform, rather than a chore that must be performed as a means to an end.  They'll work twice as hard for a ten percent gain, just for the love of perfection.  These are the ones who will isolate strains, not the dumb fucks who treat mushrooms as a drug, or even worse, a pathogen, as if mushrooms cause disease.

No, it's the temperature.  Keep it to 75F/25C during fruiting and your stems will be thicker.  High temperature stimulates rapid growth, which leads to hollow, light stems.

Any advice on how to lower the temperature in a greenhouse, in a storage shed?

Could I put a few buckets of ice water in there daily?

I really have no idea how to lower the temp :frown:

Put an AC unit in it?  vent exhaust outside if not a window unit.  I know this will drop RH but thats an easy fix.

Edit: Shit my bad i forgot what thread i was in didnt mean to bump such an oldie.
