Contamination on Rye Grain After 100% Colonization?

So about an hour ago I broke up some fully colonized rye grain jars to spawn them to my mini-mono. When shaking the jars I noticed a couple of grains that had a little black on them. Does that mean there is a contamination that I couldn't see or maybe they're a little burnt from being simmered? I hope this wasn't a waste of spawn...

you got any pics? I had some black on a few grains before but it was fine and never amounted to anything. Might just be the husks

For future reference this should probably be in the contamination forum.

There's a good chance that what you're looking at is just small pieces of bruised mycelium. Sometimes it makes the jar look kind of nasty post shake.

Sometimes when using rye grain i came across black kernels. i tried to pull as many out as possible before loading jars. if it smells ok you should probably be ok but without a pic there is no way to know for sure.
good luck ukshroomer

As prismism said.. It could be bruised mycelium from the shake. Sure it's black and not a dark blue? And as Ukshroomer said it could be one of the black kernels that come in some types of rye. If it's neither of these than you may have a contam.
