Tragedy strikes [thread update 5/21] 218 Morels
    #12462706 - 04/26/10 10:59 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Found my first morel this season after I stepped on it.  My patch of blacks had so many my size fourteen's could help it.  :frown:

Others found today.

Learned something new this year.  If Blacks are fruiting during heavy rain they can discolor to grayish tan.

Looks like it didn't curse your luck, though.

Did the same thing in the same patch last year.  Guess I didn't learn anything there.

Well, the Boss says this year will be better than last year.  I sincerely doubt it.  Last year was 34 pounds and a few ounces--1,776 morels.

And who says finding morels is luck?  When I find them, it's all skill.

It's only luck when I don't find them--bad luck.

I sold some morels last year, Beege, but the Boss is Mrs. Mushrooms. She's the real hunter in the family, not me.

Damn it.

ah ok... I spent the whole afternoon in habitat today

not a single damn one. is it still too early or am I doing something fundamentally wrong? I checked all the 'right' trees and dead woods and the described habitats and nada...

Very nice pics and finds Mr Mushrooms. Had my first find since hunting today also, after 3 years of looking. I now know why I couldn't find them, They blend in so well. Found my first one on accident(picking up someones soda can), then realized I was standing in the middle of a patch

I heard about these from the mushroom video Know Your Mushrooms where Larry Evans finds one.  He called it a pickle.  Mushroom expert has a photo but it looks washed out.  This was growing in moss, which is odd for morels, in an area where I normally find blacks.  I think the moss might have done it.

No, it was you. I call fake.

Even if it is a real pic, I won't trust it. Can't call wolf and then expect people to trust you in the future!

You mean like this:

Yes, I edit photos, sometimes photoshopping them.  I took this photo in the field just as it is.  Actually I took two of them.  The other one is on a leaf but the mushroom is out of focus.

And if you don't trust me I care why?  Jesus kid, the only photoshopped photo I ever posted here was the one above.  I think you take these things way too seriously.

Hasn't anyone here found a greenie before?
