 Does cold, overcast weather make anyone else depressed?

I live in Michigan. It's cold here at least five months of the year. Winter seems like an endless span of months without a single day of sunlight.
The older I get the more I hate it. I feel trapped in the house. I hate having to wear layers of clothing just to go out. Even when it's warmer, overcast days are still a damper on my mood.
It has gotten so bad that I was seriously considering moving down south. The obvious answer is if you don't like it, move.. What makes it complicated is the fact that I have a pretty good job, with college tuition paid and even freedom to do homework there.. If I moved away I would be on student loans and probably working a shit job.
For those of you who actually enjoy the winter, what about it do you enjoy? What do you find in it that compensates for being stuck in the house, scraping your car off in the morning, and never feeling the sun on your body?

I'm probably the exception, I hate sunny warm weather.
I don't like being hot and sweaty, I don't like having to squeench my eyes because it's too bright, and I don't like sunburns.
I think overcast cold weather is really peaceful and calm. If I get too cold, I can always layer up some more.

People in northern climates commonly suffer from vitamin D deficiency, which can make your mood feel like CRAP!
You might want to try taking a vitamin D supplement regularly, and see if that helps your mood.
When I lived in the north, I spent most of my time during winter in the gym, or the hot yoga studio.

yep i HATE the cold weather it drives me insane when i have to get up out of my warm bed in the mourning knowing i have to walk outside and the fucking freezing weather. thank god it's finally getting warmer.

yes people do suffer from changes in weather. My ex suffered from it. Appears im suffering from it now as well as depression

I highly recommend investigating light therapy. You may balk at the price of a light box but see if you can give it a try somehow. It can be very effective.
On a barely related note, I just learned about heliostats. Sweet!
