There are no bugs. Everything is working just fine.

There are no bugs. Everything is working just fine. No but seriously though, this shit is getting kind of old right? By the way, this error message means a query has locked up the database and we've reached our connection limit. It'll go away when that query completes or times out after a minute. We're getting a fix in place, we need to upgrade our hardware and switch from the MyISAM to InnoDB storage engine. We're also adding redundancy so if a server dies the site will stay online and functional while we get it fixed. Those of you who remember the Christmas and Thanksgiving downtime from a couple years ago will appreciate that. It's going to take a little time to get everything built, shipped, and set up, so you may see this message on and off for a while. Don't worry there's no risk to the site or its data or anything like that, this is just an annoying capacity problem. Anyway I'm just giving you something to read while MySQL catches its bearings. You can probably reload now and see if it's working. . . . Still no luck? Shitty, sorry about that. At least the suspense is over though, and you didn't actually miss anything. Well we did give away a kilo of coke to the thousandth visitor, but it wasn't too exciting. It sounds like a lot but it's really just one litre. Those bottles are only good for a single serving if you ask me. Anyway if you know anything about computers, our site has been powered for the past five years by two boxes with identical specs:
2 x Intel Pentium 4 Xeon, 3.6GHz/2MB Cache (2 cores total) 4 GB 400MHz SDRAM 4 x 36 GB 15K RPM U320 SCSI
I want to replace those with two of these instead:
2 x Intel i7 Xeon X5650, 2.66Ghz, 6 cores, 12MB cache (12 cores total) 48 GB 1333MHz RDRAM 6 x 146GB 15K RPM 6Gbps SAS
So yeah that would be pretty sweet. We may end up going with a slightly cheaper setup, but either way it should take care of any speed problems for years to come. Anyway we've got it covered. It's a pretty big upgrade though. To put it in perspective we're investing about half our savings, which would pay for two years of bandwidth and hosting. If you have extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, you can donate below to help up replenish our coffers. If you don't have any cash burning a hole in your pocket, then you're still lucky because flaming pants suck.

Hahaha, that was pretty sweet.
Also, it's weird that I used to use a computer that had those exact same procs (Dual 3.6ghz Xeons) But I had 4x18GB 15k SCSI's. I think I had one with the Foster 2Ghz Xeons, too, but that was a long time ago
I think that box is still in my parents basement

If it was any up-to-date computer hardware talk I'd be lost too. I've been away from the computer "scene" or whatnot for too long
I wish I would be with it, but $$$.

Amen to the server upgrades, guys. I mean, seriously, no offense, but:
2 x Intel Pentium 4 Xeon, 3.6GHz/2MB Cache (2 cores total) 4 GB 400MHz SDRAM 4 x 36 GB 15K RPM U320 SCSI ??
You have, in my opinion, designed the one of the best message board softwares that there is. Now I may speak for myself, but as much as I love your software, I have often found the sites performance to be less than awesome. Awesomely slow at times. And the downtime? C'mon. You really shouldn't put the masterpiece work of art forum software you have created on such outdated hardware. It's a shame. I mean, really, I have two servers with almost the same specs and I am using them as a coffee table and a book shelf.
UPGRADE!!!!
I am really with you on this. Invest in better hardware.
PS: of course as I went to submit this, I get the downtime error page again. It's cute and a little funny, but really, let's get the standard 99.9% uptime.
PPS: you guys still rock, BTW, I am just giving you shit.

he should write a program called Shroomery@Home, and let everyone with a PS3 fold the website for him

I also very much enjoyed the message. If I had some dollars to donate, I would have renewed my supporter account. shroomery and staff
