I have no idea what the point of your threads are orgone and it seems that no one can ever answer you up to your standards which means you already knew the answer before you asked the question. Why don't you go and write a book? I bet it would be good and then we all could rest our brains from overthinking your threads.

if were overthinking from this thread i suggest you throw in the towel.

Saying all stereotypes are ignorant is a generalization in and of itself. So if you said yes you would be admitting to ignorance.

Yes, all stereotypes are ignorant. Unless you know every member of a certain race, social identity, etc. then you can not make a generalization about them knowing fully that it's true. And if it were true then it's no longer a stereotype. It's a defining characteristic of that type of person or thing.

Saying that all stereotypes are ignorant is not admitting to ignorance because it's a fact. Stereotypes themselves are not facts. If you say "all ____s are _____" it's either true or it isn't.

If I said all sterotypers were ignorant, I would be calling myself an ignorant stereotyper, wouldn't I?  Wasn't that the point of this thread, to catch people I mean?

I don't have to know every possible use and conception of the word "stereotype" because we have a clear definition of what it means. To put it simply one could say "an ignorant generalization of a person or thing."

People are not so easily defined. If I were to say "all african-americans are baggy pants wearing, slang talking, criminals" that would be a stereotype (and very ignorant) because we know that it's not true. If that statement were true it wouldn't be a stereotype at all. It would simply be a fact and a defining characteristic of african-americans.

And ignorance is simply a characteristic of the word "stereotype" because there is no data for it to be based on. This is what separates it from the simple use of the word "generalization." I could make a generalization based on scientific data to simplify or condense the relevance of it, but the word stereotype is not applied in this way.
