I beleive it will. Aim for the cheap stuff, the expensive stuff sometimes contains fungicide.

When you let it soak remove all the crap that floats. Some people leave it but I recomend discarding it.

calcium carbonate? Weird.
Yeah, try to find some stuff without the sunflower seeds. After PCing, they end up as mush ... You will probably fine however. Just keep your eye out for other bags.
You know, if you have any bulk pet food stores around, that is the best place to get just regular un-hulled white millet. Its like 5 bucks a giant bag of just millet

Why do you recommend discarding, floaters from WBs mix. They provide lignen, a good thing & SF seeds are oil based seed - that will serve as a delayed nurte. It all gets sterilized & contains nutes. More nutes & lignin, is better than less.

As Angry said things that float around like sunflower seeds sometimes get obliterated in the sterilization process.

As with a lot of things in this hobby, I think it's a matter of preferrence. It may not matter one way or another, but people have their reasons for doing things the way they do them. Experiment and find out, then you'll know for yourself first hand. Leaving the seeds in won't hurt, neither will taking them out.
Good luck to you...

I have noticed all of my contams starting from the sunflower seeds in my WBS mix. I have since skimmed them off the top during my soak and had no problems. This week I did 3 quarts with the sunflower seeds and 3 quarts without. I don't know if I will have any usfull info on the subject later of not.
