shiitake spore print question

i have access to a ton of fresh shiitake and i want to grow some. These things drop super heavy spore prints.
can i just do the same procedure as cubes? (take spore print and make into syringe?)
or is there a special method for shiitake?

I think shitake mushrooms are woodlovers. So u need to grow them one wood based substrate.

well yes .. but to start with the whole thing you should at first make an ordinary syringe. I still am not sure, if it would work, as some great minds of this forum mention that it is very difficult to cultivate it from spores. Even if you would, however, you should also follow general procedure with petri dishes in order to isolate the strain at first.

Usually isolated on Agar, Shiitake grows well on logs that have been plugged with spawn. If your climate permits, this would be a great conversation piece in the back yard.
If your a beginner, filter patch bags are the way to go.
The Shiitake prefers 50-60 deg.F. for primordia formation, and 50-70 deg.F. for fruiting.
If you lower the humidity about half a day before harvesting, (60% RH), the caps will become a little tougher and they will store better in your fridge.
Go to the bookstore and get Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms by Paul Stamets. A must have for all mush-heads who are branching out into edibles!

That will work, but do a tissue clone instead of spores.
