Correct Water Amount Adjustments for Coarse Grade Verm
    #1205066 - 01/09/03 04:20 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

I'm using Coarse Grade Vermiculite. I know I need to adjust my water content in it's recipe.

"The basic PF recipe is 1/4 cup brown rice flour (measure the flour itself, not the brown rice if you grind it yourself), 1/2 cup vermiculite, and 60ml (4 tablespoons) of water. Depending on the vermiculite used the amount of water needed can vary.
The finer type of Vermiculite, individual particles measuring around 1-2 mm, and the coarser type, with particles measuring around 5-8 mm are suitable for substrate. The coarser type will hold a little less water, so make sure to adjust the amount of water used."

Should I just use 70 ml of water? Or is there a more exact amount of water I could use?

you should use around 50 ml of water. The coarse stuff holds less water so you should add less to the mix.

I'm not very exact with my measusements I usually use 7.5 c vermiculite, 3.5 c BRF, and 3 c water to make 12 jars. I've had no problems.
