Trametes versicolor (or something similar) on concrete?
    #11961538 - 02/04/10 12:42 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

Strange. I have seen them transfer from a log I brought home onto a carpet, but never before have I seen them growing straight out of concrete.

I have seen Scleroderma sp. coming up through cracks in the concrete before though, but thats a bit different. I have heard that morels occasionally pop up in gravel and concrete as well.

Anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Not t. versicolor, but I couldn't venture a name right now. It's a common species though, I find it regularly. Them growing right through the concrete is :awesome:

Stereum ostrea, maybe?

Wait, I forgot about the Totally True Turkey Tail Test! I will be back with an ID!

Stereum ostrea, a common false turkey tail. Turns out it had no pores underneath, making it a crust fungi.

Thanks for intriguing me to walk half a block and take a closer look, Koraks. :headbanger:

You're welcome. You'll find that my honorarium doesn't even approach that of your GP

I've seen mushrooms growing through the concrete but not taken snaps. My Opium Poppies grow through the concrete in my back garden \\m//.

I have heard about them ruining brand-new tennis courts before as well.

I thought I saw a huge Common Stinkhorn on one, once, but it was just Roger Federer.

The first one may have been Stereum ostrea, but just a few feet away I found some actual T. versicolor growing from concrete today, miniscule pores and all...

It seemed to originate from below the concrete, but has thoroughly attached itself to it along the side.
