So I really like good tunes, that don't have lyrics, the music speaks for itself. There are many out there from many different genres and I would like to be turned on to more. If you got something tasty put it here man and help a jaded cat out...
here is something juicy i came across a few weeks back, I hope you dig it.
<param name="movie" value="name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="445" height="364">
-------------------- "The world is like a ride at an amusement park. It goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride...” - Bill Hicks "Is this the really real world, or am I still dreaming" - ME

Lyrics have no point in most music. Just a trendy way to get your money quick before people realize they are a hack/half assed musician

here's some music for you
they're an american band that makes progressive experimental music with eastern overtones. this clip in particular is shitty cellphone quality, but it gets the point of their music across.

a few years ago I made a CD without lyrics. At first it was tough to come up with titles but there are really a lot out there.
I don't want to flood this post with vids so... Call of the Ktulu - Metallica (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth - Metallica Orion - Metallica Hocus Pocus - Focus "lyrics" Frankenstein - Edger Winter Group Set Controls for the Heart of the Sun - Pink Floyd Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson For the Love of God - Steve Vai

I think that's a wee bit of a strong opinion, but I do love me some instrumental music!
Everything from classical to jazz to electronic music is grand.
In fact I'm listening to some Haydn right now... his Joke quartet (Op. 33, Mvt. 2) but I would recommend his 95th Symphony when it comes to Haydn.
Check out Ben Monder from some crazy atonal guitar music. I recommend the song Gemini... I did a report on it last semester

Nice list, I love instrumentals. FTR "Set the controls" does have lyrics though, from a chinese poem or something if I recall:
"Little by little the night turns around. Counting the leaves which tremble and turn. Lotus's lean on each other in union. Over the hills where a swallow is resting.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun.
Over the mountain watching the watcher. Breaking the darkness, waking the grapevine. Morning to birth is born into shadow Love is the shadow that ripens the wine.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun. The heart of the sun, the heart of the sun.
Who is the man who arrives at the wall? Making the shape of his questions at asking. Thinking the sun will fall in the evening. Will he remember the lesson of giving?"
Here I'll add one: Satriani/Circles:

Figured it might be something like that. Interestingly though, I have always wanted to do a serious remake of "Set the Controls", there are some musical themes in there that could seriously be expanded upon! Among them is something I used to call "the sound of deja vu" . . . .

Dream theater any one? Lyrics in much of it yet but that's because his voice is as beautiful as the instruments.... Or if you prefer liquid tension experiment.

Each to their own, I find that if you've got music that speaks, and lyrics that can intermingle with the music, that's far greater than featuring Either the lyrics or the Musical instruments as the main theme of any song.
Hence I love jams that go into music, then are intermingled with the lyrics, and jam out clean with just notes. I don't know. I just can't find myself to diss lyrics in that fashion, that's just betraying the human instrument.
