Yeah I dont know shit about guns..
I know you cant carry a gun while under the influence. Loaded, unloaded with or without a concealed weapons permit (in my state anyway). So what if your drunk at your house and somebody breaks in? Yeah you dont really have a choice, but what are the police going to think? They cant really take your drunken word for it can they? Do they have to arrest you because of the law then just wait for more information on the shooting or what?

Ha no. Im just getting into guns lately actually. Ive never owned one so for the past month or so Ive just been reading and reading. I have a lot of hypothetical questions so instead of flooding the pub I thought Id mosey on over here.
Another one was if I have a weapon on me while walking the dog, and another dog comes over and starts attacking mine, can I shoot it? Would you?

Also half the reason is we live in the mountains. We hike a lot. Yeah the odds of being attacked by some animal are pretty slim, but if the dog runs off and scares up some beast...odds are I cant out-run it. I doubt the dog could either.

if you are in your house it does not matter if you are drunk or not.
you can't choose the time someone will break in.
you were in your house and drinking(which is legal)
if you don't have a CC. you cannot walk your dog while you have a loaded weapon.
now, if you are hiking out in the wilderness. you will prolly only run into a game warden.
I'm sure he won't care that you have a sidearm while hiking.
when traveling to and from your destination. I recommend unloading the weapon and putting the gun in the trunk and the magazine and bullets in a locked glove box. this is only if you don't have a CC.

I can have a loaded magazine, but not one in the chamber. It has to be two mechanical actions from firing. One action being loading the round, and the second action pulling the trigger. I can walk around town if I wanted to, it just has to be in plain sight.

Alot of states are open carry legal, I know in my state you can carry openly if its loaded or not. I would recommend getting your concealed carry though, element of surprise thing Im currently trying to talk my wife and mother into getting theirs, 230 grains of hot lead work better than pepper spray
