Probably not big enough for quart jars. Maybe for syringes, agar, and other things that arent worth getting a full sized one up to temp.

Interesting- what psi does it generate?
Agreed with the others- possibly useful for small quick batches.

I've seen a ton in craigslist and on amazon. I don't think it's a true PC, not much pressure probably. Syringe needles would spark in a microwave, but PF jars

It would be useless unless there was a heat-sealing mechanism that would close once the air was vented.  If it has such a device, this could be just the thing to let the couch potatoes with nothing but a microwave in their homeless shelter to be able to sterilize brf cakes.

No need to be snarky.
If this thing actually works (which I doubt) it would be handy for anybody doing a small batch of anything non-metallic.
Especially nice in the summertime- I don't run the big PC during daylight hours in the summer, it's just too much heat.

i had to google snarky because i had no idea what it meant.

snarky:A word that should be googled to find the definition as per direction from Dane Cook. It means short tempered or irritable.

"He was being very snarky with me. Yeah, snarky. Its a word, google it." -Dane Cook

I get irritated by all the microwave posts, as if the device used to splatter packaged pizza sauce all over its walls for years on end without cleaning, can somehow be all they need to enter a hobby based on sterile procedure.

I guess the end result is I have little patience for those only interested in 'getting some drugz to get high', as opposed to learning an entirely new science to expand one's mind.  The former is looking for microwave teks, the latter will pony up $20 at the thrift store for a used PC, while they save up for a new, larger one if the hobby turns out to be to their continued interest.  I kind of like the term snarky though.  I may have to use that in the future.

Well, I would too if those are the only choices.

But being the cool guy who explores all options, then chooses the best tool for the job, that's my usual niche.

Really?
Just yesterday, I sterilized 100 mL of agar and 8 petri dishes.
That's all I needed, I didn't do any grain jars.

IF that thing upthread would have worked (and again, I don't think it would have) it would have been ideal for that task.
Small job, low quantity of liquid, no solid grains. Over and done in no time.

Microwave sterilization isn't suitable for mycology- yet. It will be someday.
It's already in use in hospitals for some applications.

There's no need to brag online. I have a big PC, and I can use it if I want to.
But if something else will work, I'll use that.

Edit-

I was looking for (and fond) an entire new science to expand my mind.
I ponied up $20 and got two thrift store PCs,and saved for a big one.
Now may I please experiment with microwave sterilization without anybody calling me names?
I'm not a homeless couch potato- I'm a mycology hobbyist with a real job and a real PC and yes, I have a microwave too.

if you want to spend the money on multiple different methods of sterilization to match the scale and need of every individual mycology need, go for it.

id rather have 1 tool that does everything then 3 tools that only do one thing.

not quite sure what you meant by "There's no need to brag online." I'll assume you read to much into my post.

Microwaves will work on brf. There was recently a thread on it by a longtime poster.
Microwaves will not sterilize anything like grains. They cannot maintain high enough heat for lng enough without drying out what you are trying to sterilize.
Google it. There have been plenty pf studies done on the subject as it would be a breakthrough on lab sterilization, both in time and cost.
