Pics need identification/confirmation please
    #1182061 - 12/31/02 04:19 PM (21 years, 2 months ago)

There was a nice rain yesterday so I decided to go on a little stroll around the golf course to see if I could find any of the guys. I found a bunch of no takers, but these kind of caught my attention. I have collected off manure before, but never out of woodland. My area is southern alabama, the gulf coast actually. Almost all of these of this type were found near foliage, shady area, with a nice layer of leaves/pine needles in pretty rich soil. Any clarification on these mushrooms would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry about no spore print or pics from above and below but my camera is kinda screwy at real close range. I am skeptical that these are any type of potent mushrooms anyways, but maybe someone will prove me wrong. Oh, on the bruising, the stems are very thin and dark yet I don't think there is any bruising, its kind of hard to tell though.

lets see, you've got 30 some odd views and 1 Reply- by yourself- might know why...... Try and not to have such a constrasting background with those mush you found- the black and white stripes aren't too easy on the eyes when ones trying to ID them- just keep it simple and lay them on a paper towel or something.

Nice pics though and I too doubt that they are anything active- no blue brusing is a good sign for this

I can tell you that they're not active at all. They could be Galerinas. I wouldn't eat them if you paid me a thousand dollars.

Thanks for the feedback, I actually found them in a copy of the Audubon Field Guide. They are non-toxic but not at all active, just a run of the mill mushroom. You were right cardboard, they are mycena.
