How many of you meditate and usually for how long? How does it make you feel?
I used to do it but I just cant find any motivation to anymore. I feel like it's just a placebo and doesn't truly do anything.
Also does anyone have any recommended reading/ online articles/ other information about Meditation? It's greatly appreciated.

I meditate for 20 minutes at the start of every day. Not only do I not think its a placebo, but I think its saved my life.

how so?
I stopped meditating for a month after meditating daily for 6 months.
I can't tell if it made anything better but now I'm depressed again.

If I don't meditate a day I feel a lot of anxiety and my OCD gets worse. I have OCD without compulsion meaning there is nothing physical, only mental. I have a few obsessions that keep me down, but for the most part they are much better. I went from not having any control over my thoughts to having them pop in 5-10 times a day. That's a lot better than the 100+ I was having.
Meditating helped me be able to smoke weed as well. I had a lot of things going wrong in my life and whenever I would smoke I would hear my mind shouting at me. Meditation helped me look at my anxities from a perspective other than my own. Almost all of your problems are made by how you look at the world.
I feel more focused, more energetic and just overall more happy with life. I love psychedelics, but the best thing they have done for me is get me into meditation. You have to make it a priority though. At my worst I was meditating "when I could fit it in" and it wasn't helping. It wasn't until I did it first thing in the morning EVERY DAY for awhile until I saw an improvement.
Working out helps as well. Don't just work your mind. Don't just work your body. Don't just improve your soul. You have to make them all strong to get anywhere.
Mediate with the breath, with music, with walking, with whatever. It definitely works. You aren't going to reach a new level every time, but when you do its

Rocker this sounds amazing! And I feel the need for meditation in my life also. So could you please say more specifically what you do, and how you do it, to get into that meditative state of mind. I always loose interest in meditation after a few days, never could find a good source about how to do it.

I meditate as often, and for as long, as I feel an urge to mediate.
Sometimes this means I will go a month with only 30minutes of meditation, other times it will sit for double that in one session.
I've never really put too much thought into how it makes me feel, but some effects are relaxation and calmness. I would definitely would say it is not placebo- apart from these basic effects above, I have had more substantial experiences during meditation, and I am sure of their lasting effects.
As towards information, I fully believe the less the better or else you may end up confused.
Just sit cross legged with your back and neck straight. Relax both your body and your mind. Try to be aware of everything happening without directly influencing it. I find focusing on the breathe is a good method to help with this. Do this as often as you want, but don't force it.
At least, that's what I do. I believe most of the meditative experience can be intuited.
