Best headphones to buy.

I'm looking to spend upwards to 350 on a pair of nice, noise cancellation headphones that'll last a while.
Any good recommendations? Not trying to spend 300 on a name, when I could get the same product for 40.

Fuck man.. NO. If you're looking for quality without spending money on a name, then ANYTHING except bose.
Look into these brands if you like canal phones: Etymotic Shure
For open head cans, Grado makes some nice ones. Sennheiser has some nice cans if you spend that kind of money. i didn't think the "best buy" ones were any good at all, but at the upper price range they were good.
my $0.02.

Find some used high end grado or sennheiser, and then build This headphone amp.
personally, i'd go with Grado sr325i.... or find some used rs1's
Depends what you like to listen to...

DT 770 (80 Ohm) + HeadRoom Portable amp =
Bose is marketed and put in all the Circuit City's and Best Buy's but that doesn't make them any better.

I have the same brand, the DT 770 Pro and they are goddly sounding. Sound better then the GENELEC 1023A's I have, which are some of the better mixing speakers on the planet earth. Genelec link to the monitors Used by most of the professionals that mix the music you listen to, period.

i have a pair of 770s laying around also. like you said.. really amazing sound.
beyerdynamic is one of the best brands out there. not that many people know about them though.. shame. everyone is missing out.
i also have a pair of Shure se110 earbuds. i really just use them as my cheap-y headphone when walking the dog or riding my bike. the beyerdynamics are awesoem but lets face it.. they are pretty bulky.

you should go to a headphone specific forum and search around. www.head-fi.org/forums/
for the amount you're willing to pay, you could get some godly headphones. and that's a good place to learn everything you could want to know about any given brand. those high fi kids have way too much time and disposable income on their hands.

You sure you want noice cancellation headphones? Active or passive? You realize the active ones can introduce additional noise or alter/color the audio signal of whatever you're listening to? They're only really advisable if you're in a really noisy environment and you're just sitting on your ass. Where will you be using them?
