aluminum foil covering jar

i used the pf tek for simple minds, but the foil was very brittle and when i took it off of my 1/2 pint jars, it cracked and holes were made. (i'm talking about the piece that covers the metal lid with the holes in it.). i put new pieces of foil on top of the jar lids, without doing anytype of steralization of it. will this cause contam? i was innoculating in a small bathroom that i sprayed lysol all in.

If what your saying is that the foil cracked, then its fine. The high temperature proably did it. If you see alot of water on the lids (under the foil) then water might have gotten in, and could really mess things up a bit.

well, there was water under the aluminum foil lid (on top of the metal jar lid), but i put some tape over the holes before i put the foil on. (i guess im lucky i was overly paranoid huh? lol.) i pulled the tape off, innoculated then put fresh foil on. (i don't think i put enought spores in, i had a 10 cc syringe and inncoulated 6 1/2 pint jars and was left with 6 cc's) will it still colonize? i suspect that it will just tske longer, is that right?
but my original question was, will the new foil that i put on the jars introduce contams into the jars?

You shouldnt have to put more foil on it. The Man never did, and hasnt had any contam problems.
The Man also only uses 1/4cc per innoculation.. 1cc total a jar.

All you need are two motivated spores to work, but conditions have to be right. The more you inject the beter your chances (to a point) I'm not sure what the standard is but 1-2cc per jar seem to be the norm.

I made and pressure cooked brf jars yesterday, and after waiting 24 hours, I inoculated 21 of the 23 jars. I removed the aluminum foil to inoculate them (There was a little bit of water from condensation on the lids of some of the jars but I didn't think it was anything too worrisome). After I inoculated the jars, I replaced the aluminum foil on half of the jars. I wanted to see if it made any kind of a difference. What do you guys do? Do you replace the aluminum foil? Do you tape the holes after? I didn't tape the holes before or after.
On an unrelated topic, is there a glossary for the abbreviations and acronyms that I keep seeing all over this forum? For example: WBS, SGFC, BRF, etc. Sometimes I come across an acronym and I have no clue what it means.

What about tape? I assume you never use it, or at least you don't put tape over the holes after inoculation. ?

Bumping old threads isn't a problem unless the bump isn't adding anything to the thread. I'd rather see an old thread bumped with a relevant question or insight instead of a new thread started for the same topic any day.
Personally I use heavy duty foil & no tape. The foil stays on until the jar is used.
