What I'd like to know is how can people get pins when theyre not even trying to, and I can't get them when I try harder than hell.

what my friend does when the cakes start to pin is put them in the growing chamber, of corse this is preference. my friend feels that the whole perpose of cold shock is to start pinnin, so you can cancel that out. you could still dunk if you wanted, but not really needed for first flush, do it for second one though. as far as the uncolonized verm/brf sterilize a knife and clean it off the cake to avoid contams.

Your post was much too vague to get any real answers to so tell what your growth parameters are and what you've been doing and then maybe you'll get a decent response.....

It seems whenever people start getting no growth without pins that it turns out to be cobweb mold.Hopefully not though. I would check out some pics by doing a search.

the strain is sporeal, it;s about 90 percent colonize but it;s been over a month since inoculation, i think it was growing so slow because the jar was stored too cold(22 degree celcius) so growth was slow but now i moved it to a warmer place(29 degrees celcius) when it was about 50 percent colonize and it grew pretty nicely until the last week or so it seems to stop altogether.

This may have been debunked since my last reading, but I read that if you get stalled growth on the bottom you should crack the jars open a tinge and turn them upside down (if you haven't already). If I remember correctly, this allows the CO2 to seep downward and the oxygen-fresh air to get in. If it's on the top, just crack 'em open. It worked for AFOAF once, but the cakes were too dry to begin with and never took after he got them in the terrarium.

Again, I'm not sure. Experts, I'm looking in your direction on this one.
