Shiitake blisters
    #11361773 - 11/01/09 10:11 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

I have 5 jars of shiitake started on 10-7-09 (almost a month ago) looked at them today and a couple have "white blisters" on them, should i try to fruit now?
I'm asking in referance to an old post by rogerrabbit that said somthing about your timing needing to be just right to get fruits.

No leave them longer, they first blister and get completely white and then you allow them to start 'browning'

Do you need to shake them to spread the mycelium?

If those are brf jars, let them go for another month or so.  They'll be nearly completely brown.  Then, dunk overnight and expose to fruiting conditions.

i have 2 bags of aspen chips and straw at 50% col right now. i do not see why ass chips and coco would not work but as RR says do add some type of supplement to the mix at "his recommendation is 10% i think"
