Dehydrator Difficulties
    #11345369 - 10/29/09 01:34 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

So I finally went out and spent 40 bucks, got the only dehydrator Wal-Mart carried (Oster brand, Model # FPSTDH0101).  It has 4 trays, and only an on/off switch (no temperature control).

I thought about dismantling the heating element, but after plenty of post searching, determined that it shouldn't be an issue.

It's been about 20 hrs since i put these bad boys in, and i have yet to detect any substantial water loss.  In fact, the only observation I have made is that some flies have made their way into the device.

So what gives?  There's an internal fan that ran as soon as I turned it on, but seems to be off most of the time.  I have only caught it running a few times for a minute or two.  Is this functioning properly?  Temperatures haven't exceeded 100F as far as I can tell..

Basically, I'm pretty unfamiliar with using a dehydrator, and the Owner's Manual for this thing isn't helpful at all.  Plus no FAQ for this particular product on the Oster website.

Any idea what the problem might be/ if I have a problem at all?

Doesn't sound right. Is it really full, stuffed with shrooms?
