Recommend me an RPG

Hey,
Do any of you guys remember a game called Secret of Mana for the SNES?
I'm really in the mood for getting an RPG on the PS3, something that kinda has the same vibe to it as secret of mana but not one as expansive as a full-on online RPG like WoW/Everquest etc.
I was looking at White Knight Chronicles but that's not out till net year and I really fancy playing something with more of a 'japanesey' feel to it, though preferable without turn-based battles (like SoM).
Any recommendations??
Thankssssss

Dude, just download some old emulators.I've been playing all the old classic rpg's.Lately I've been trying to beat magic Night Rayearth for the Sega Saturn,It's Awesome!!! In my opinion, you will never find rpg's on the new systems that compare to the old 8,16,and 32 bit systemsI'm sure you can play them on your ps3 too,as it supports emulators

eternal sonata is pretty good. amazing soundtrack; Chopin. Demon's souls, for sure too. dragon age origins comes out soon. next year looks like it's gonna be the best yet for ps3 RPGs...white knight chronicles, FFXIII, resonance of fate, star ocean 4 international, tales of vesperia, vandal hearts....

Hi All,
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Although Secret of Mana was undoubtedly the most amazing game ever, I'm after something a bit more modern that I can really get my teeth into. Though I have to admit I would love to get my hands on Seiken Densetsu 3, a game i've just never got round to, even all these years later.
I'll definitely be hitting the review sites to check out your recs. I saw Demon's Souls earlier and have to admit that looks very interesting, not at all what I expected. The artwork in Valkyria Chronicles looks AMAZING but I honestly feel like I need something a bit more free-roaming. Excellent looking game though.
Thanks guys!

i bought valkyria chronicles for $20 and while it's a great game no doubt and the art is astounding, it's waay too turn based for me and slightly infuriating. I've been playing it for a month and keep putting it away and going to other games since it drives me crazy. it's enjoyable, just...I dunno. not my cup of tea. too linear and restricted. I wish you could run around freely and not just go mission to mission etc.

Yeah that's what I was thinking about it. It looks great but yes, at the same time restricted.

yeah go for eternal sonata tho. theres a demo on PSN if you wanna try it. but half the soundtrack is chopin, and the game is based around him, so you cant really lose with that. and/or get demon's souls.

If you are looking for old school status, check out Phantasy Star.
I heard there was a new one too that was badass though I never played it.

centrum said: Oblivion is a good RPG for the PS3. Its got many, many hours of gameplay. One of the games I dont see myself trading in.
But it has a bug in it where if you become a vampire, you cant reverse it. The bug is only on the PS3 and there is no patch. So if you get bitten just make sure you heal yourself before you turn into a full on vampire.

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 and Secret of Mana on the SNES are all epic! Xenogears and Final Fantasy 7 are the best RPGs I've played on PS1... And right now I've been playing Dragon Quest 8 and Dark Cloud 2 on the PS2, they're both pretty sweet.
I wish they made Final Fantasy games like they used to! I haven't even tried playing any of the last couple of games because of how disappointing everything past FF7 were. (Too much reliance on cinematic sequences for my tastes...)
I'd like to find a good RPG playable on the PC that doesn't cost money, if anyone has any suggestions. I always see advertisements for "free MMORPGS" but I'm not sure what's good, if anything..
