 What are some ways you have thought to propose marriage to someone???

I really want to ask my GF to get married, and I want to do it in some unique way. We bought a house together after being together than less than 2 yrs. We have been together for 4 1/2yrs now. I am not the most spontanious guy and would like to show her differnt.
I don't plan on doing this till spring 2010 so we will have been together 5 yrs by then. Hopefully by then money will be more steady and made more legitly. She wouldn't except a ring she knew was bought with dr*g money no matter how nice it was. She's that kind of girl and that's why I want to marry her.
I really haven't gave the way to propose to much thought yet. For the past few weeks I have really been analysing are relationship to see if I think we could make it work. I came to the conclusion it can but I have to give here a lot of space during school. She is going to be a dentist and the DAT test becomes part of your life for a while, literally. I just want to get a ring on her finger, we don't have to get married until after she graduates. That doesn't bother me. I don't want to get in the way of her future, because if I plan on being with her that is part of my future too.
The only problem in are relation ship that I can see becoming an issue is are jobs. I am a construction worker, my dad owns the company and I can own it one day. It has been very profitable in the 25 yrs my dad had owned it but these last 2 yrs have been very hard. That has mad my dad try to get away from the family buisness. Which is making my future plans change a lot.
But anyways enough about us. I don't even have the slightest idea what to begin think of. I am curious too how some of you shroomerits have done it or plan to do it??? Remember my GF is drug free. I have thought if some way if she gets into dental school right away. I could be one of her patients that she does school work on, and put the ring in my mouth when she is working on me. Does that sound stupid??? It's the first thing to pop in my head.

Have custom m&m's made that say "will you marry me" and then give them to her. If she eats them all, without seeing the message then she is not the one for you.

I actually did the M&m thing for a Valentines day gift like 2 yrs ago. That bag of M&M's cost me over $50. And the message was hard to read. Waste of money!!!!

Ring in the mouth idea sounds good.
But honestly you should really think it through because it sucks when marriage goes to shit.
This December I'm going to be 5 years with my girl and marriage is the last thing we want at this point in our lives.

Ya I would wait because shit comes up when your young and still figuring our your careers. Not that I have much wisdom in a matter like this but I was with my EX for 4 years and she started talking about marriage 1 month later we split up.
Ultimately it's your decision.

I took my wife (then girlfriend) to a dam with a really huge, tall bridge across it, and I had a little spiel planned out about how life is comprised of a series of bridges, some small and some large. So we get there and start to walk out on it, but she got freaked and wouldn't set foot on the bridge.  I just took her underneath the bridge and did the deal and for some reason she said yes. That was in April 05 and we were married in September 05, so don't count on a year or two going by if you propose. It's out of your hands then.

when i proposed to my ex-finance, i took the ring (2ct princess cut diamond in a platinum band, all custom made) and put it in a champagne glass (she loved bubblies). then i brought the glasses and champagne out and gave her the glass, filled my glass up and by then she had seen what was in the glass. at that time i got on my knees and told her that i wanted nothing more then to spend the rest of my life with her.
in retrospect, she was an evil conniving cunt, but the proposal was romantic and she loved it as did all her friends. i'm sooo glad we didn't end up getting married.
and in the end, i sold the ring for more then what i paid for it. then, i had a huge bash with the proceeds (and still had a bunch of $ left over) from the ring. good times!
