ID Request
    #11184737 - 10/05/09 02:04 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Hello! I went hunting recently and found a few different species. They were all growing in grass around a cemetery near San Francisco.

Anyway, here are the pics, sorry if they are not the best; I'm still working on my photography skills.

Spore print for these was dark brown.

Maybe coprinus disseminatus?

*Sigh* I really need to figure out how to avoid blurring up these photos. : /

I believe these are chlorophyllum rhacodes. Very, VERY vague spore print. Looked to be tan/light brown. Not 100% certain, though.

No spore print for these guys, but an interesting specimen. Maybe I picked them too early?

No clue on this one, either. Spore print chocolate brown.

Ma'am on a motorcycle? XD

Spore print on this is a very interesting creamy white, almost pink, I want to say? I can upload the pic if necessary.

Last one. Spore print chocolate brown again. Growing not in clusters, but there were several around each area.

Alright, that's it!

Thanks for any help, and, of course, a new and spectacular hobby!

Ugh!! I'm sorry about the picture size! I'll make sure to resize them next time.

Can you make your pictures a bit smaller? They don't fit my screen

The chocolate brown-gilled are likely agaricus which are mostly edible though there are some that can make you ill. Can you please give more information ie. where you found them. That will also help the id.

I think you are right about the c. rhacodes.

The one with white gills could be in the amanita family, considering the size. If it's the one I'm thinking of it would be deadly. I really can't see your entire picture because it's being cut off by the screen.

Do us all a favour and check out this helpful post

happy hunting

macrolepiota, I'd say. I think his guess of m. rhacodes isn't too bad, actually.

But what about this complication of the lepiota family? I really think his shroom looks most like c. rhacodes.

macrolepiota rhacodes and chlorophyllum rhacodes are synonymous. Perhaps c. rhacodes is actually the preferred nomenclature; I'm not exactly up to date in that respect.
