 Warmer or cooler temperature?

I know that when after you inoculate the jars you have to let it be in room temperature about 75 to 81 F, but if you have only 2 choices, which would rather be better? 75 or 81? Should I stick to the warmer side or the cooler side?

Put at least one jar in each. See which works better for you.

the mycelium will acclimate to whatever climate it finds itself in. as long as it is within an acceptable range it will grow. 75F is fine. it also limits other growth being on the cooler side. warmer tmeps will accelerates growth but can also encourage other organisms to grow faster as well.
the mycelium also generates heat as it grows.
75-80, i would say, is optimum.

yes experiment if you can.
I was recently told anything above 85-90 degrees is prone to bacterial growth so anywhere inbetween 75-80 is perfect.

ive not noticed much difference between 75f and 80f maybe a couple of days. I stopped worrying about keeping them in a warm place and just left them be at whatever my room temp is.
I dont use heating very much and it must drop as low as 70f maybe lower sometimes. My jars still colinise fine and fruit fine also.
Its now getting into winter soon so temps will really drop and thats when id start to notice things slowing down alot but im not realy worried as i'll be done growing by then.
stick with 75f.
it can also depend on what your colinising. pf cakes upto 81f is fine since such a small substrate will produce just a small amount of heat, but with larger grain jars and bulk substrates alot more heat can be produced. And also take into account aswell during fruiting how much substrate you have in the 1 space.
i dont see the need for any rush. comercial mushroom farms use lower temps as they know it has the highest success rate

for incubation, i would recommend a little warmer temps but as long as they don't go lower than 75 degrees, you should be good to go. i have recently been experimenting with decreasing the temps during fruiting (post pinning) and i've noticed a pretty significant increase in density of both the fruits and the pinsets. i first got the idea from RR and have been trying to see if it is as effective as he said it was. i have been plesantly surprised. normally, my fruiting temps stay roughly the same as my incubation temps but dropping the temp about 10 degrees (after the first pins form) has made a WORLD of difference. at first i thought lower temps would result in lower RH but i just plugged a few more holes in the FC and everything has been top-notch. i would recommend this to anyone trying to increase number of pins and/or size of fruits.
