UFC 103 Belfort vs Franklin

Can't believe no one has made a thread yet.
I for one am very excited to see Vitor back in the UFC. He was one of my favorite fighters in the early UFC's. Granted the sport was still in it's infancy but he was a beast back then. It just seemed that after his sister disappeared he was never the same.
When he fought Lindland and beat him so convincingly I'm hopeful he's back. I guess we'll see tonight.

Vitor looked good but it doesnt say anything about if he's progressed as a fighter.
We gotta see him in there with someone who can take a shot and dump him on his head.
Mirko looked like shit, i hate to say it cuz he was so damn good for so long, but he's clearly just not the same fighter anymore.

yeah that put a damper on my evening, Poor guy.
was just shove.. missed punches, missed kick
the commentary was so biased for cro cop, hed get hit with a combo and barely land a punch and they of course are just like oh cro cop with a nice left!
I was happy to see koscheck beat twinkletoes.

Yeah, it was definitely not a very convincing win. I don't think he even hurt Franklin until Franklin was on his knees and Belfort caught him with that left hook. Everything before that just looked like a glancing blow at best.
Still, I'm really happy to have him back as he was one of the first fighters I really liked.
Mirko looked very uncharacteristic. He really looked scared the whole time.
What I really liked about this card was only one fight went to decision if I'm correct, and it was a prelim. There were like 8 or 9 fights and all but one stayed out of the judges hands. I don't recall another card that had so many finishes.

The Franklin fight was anti-climatic. It seemed like alot of the fighters were uncharacteristicly tense and didn't let their hands go. The last fight between the two unknowns was awesome though.

This is key. I was amazed at how many finishes that there were.
The night was obviously a huge upset though with Belfort and Junior dos Santos beating much more 'proven' fighters. I find it ludicrous how the UFC thinks, "oh Befort got a 1st round knockout vs the former middleweight champ- he's the perfect opponent for Anderson Silva." 1st round knockouts are notoriously luck-based and tell very little about a fighters all around skill. The UFC is really just running out of suitable opponents for Silva.
My money is on Vitor Belfort getting OBLITERATED by Anderson Silva. And I hate to say it, but perhaps Franklin and Cro-Cop are 'over the hill.' Hope not, though.

cro cop is def over the hill and hes not going to fight anymore i feel, especially since team cro cop has disbanded im pretty sure that means hes retiring, and thats sad but he was so good in his day so whatever he has a better highlight reel than many others
and i dunno if franklin is over the hill, he obviously didnt block that punch that dropped him very well, but it happens.

Yep, it seems Cro-Cop is retiring. Goddamnit... one of my favorite fighters EVER... but it's great to go back and look at his pride days of wiping out people.
