cream of wheat?
    #1105210 - 12/02/02 08:09 PM (21 years, 3 months ago)

i was just doing a little thinking and was wondering if cream of wheat could be used instead of BRF. Its cheap, its already ground up, and one can aquire huge fucking boxes of the stuff. Im thinking maybe some kind of cream of wheat (with the oh-so nutritious bran layer included!) from a health food store. less perservatives the better. one could maybe try the bleached cream of wheat but i would expect poorer results. plus its very non-conspicuous to buy. feel free to tell me if i am completely off track cause it was just a thought. thanks.

I don't think so. Theres not enough sugars and certain ingredients are absent.

Whats so "conspicuous" about brown rice? And every grocery store that I've been to around here has had 5 lb bags of it.

Just grind it yourself. (which is better anyway)

No offence to anyone, but I don't think we're ever going to find a "magic" pf/mmgg cake substrate ingredient. (but I could be wrong... I'm obviously not an expert.)

Sorry about my rant... (I'm usually so friendly)

I had pondered the same thing.. If you could make sure that the substrate wouldn't be too sticky then I'm sure it would work. Whole wheat berries work great, in fact that's all I use. So, it's not too much of a stretch to assume that cream of wheat would work. Mix up a jar or two to experiment and see how it turns out.. (Edit:Typo. :-) )

To be quite honest i think that BRF cakes are pretty magic. Although I'm about to start playing around with a few additives now that i've got a stock of shrooms built up.

I've got a hippy health food shop right next to my flat. They sell all sorts of organic wholefoods that i'm going to work through. I'll let you all know if i do discover anything more magic.
