Aborts on cakes is more than likely lack of moisture in the cake itself.  When fruiting right off cakes you only have too much humidity when water droplets form on the cake itself.  This will it turn drown the mycilium so to speak and turn yellow to brown.  For cakes you need more humidity (about 98%)  and for casings you need around 75%.  I would say clean your cakes completly of all fruit (aborts and all) and give them a good dunk for 24 hrs.  Then return to fruiting chamber   Hope this helps some

Your humidity is not too high. Try more air exchange.

Aborts are not usually due to an excess of humidity, but to answer you question: Yes. Just like anything else, too much of something is no good. Too much humidity would increase your chances of getting some sort of contaminant.
