Huge mushroom, looking for ID

I found this site and registered here 100% purely for identification of this mushroom, so forgive me if this thing turns out relatively easy to ID, or I didn't fill out the "form" as well as I could've.
I believe it should be identifiable purely from these images, but I'll include what extra information I presently can. Not expecting it to be active or anything; I'm just really curious what the heck this thing is that I found. If none of you know what it is, but can tell me a better place to look, I'd appreciate it.
As you can see, it's huge - I can't even wrap my hand all the way around its stalk. Stalk circumference is probably close to a foot around, give or take. Over four inch diameter at the base, somewhere around three inch diameter closer to the top of the stalk. The cap is about seven and a half inches across at the widest point.
Ignoring the goofy face, you can see it's pretty big even in relation to my head.
Habitat: I live in southwestern Ohio (Butler County, near Hamilton and Cincinnati). Found it growing underneath a row of pine trees, among the needles on the ground.
Gills: I haven't torn apart the mushroom to see if there are any hidden gills, but there are absolutely none visible from outside.
Spore print color: Haven't made one yet; will provide if necessary for identification. Currently attempting to preserve original condition of the mushroom; don't want to damage it yet.
Bruising: N/A
Other information: Has a somewhat musty smell, but that seems fairly typical of mushrooms in my experience at least. Also had a translucent yellow liquid leak lightly out of it in a few spots. There was a little damage to the cap in a few spots; inside, the cap appears to be a spongy yellow color.

Is it some kind of puffball? I don't know I'm just curious...The only ones I have ever seen that big have been.

I was thinking the same; looks fairly similar to a lot of other puffballs. However, I haven't been able to find any puffballs so far that looked similar enough to this.

Someone will come through and give you an ID I wish I was better at it but I'm lucky to know some of the mushrooms in this area.

Yeah, it looks like a huge puffball. I don't know this species, but I bet some of the other TIs do.

Or is it a Bolete infected with Hypomyces type parasitic fungi? Did you cut it open and see if it has classic puffball sporemass?

If I was to take a stab at it I'd say definitely a Calvatia sp.; one of these two, probably the former:

BTW nice pics

By the description and images on the page, I'm about 90% certain it's a Calvatia craniiformis. Wish I'd found it younger, when it was still white on the inside!

Wow I've never seen puffballs with big fat stems like that. The ones i've seen (Aust.) have very small stems, if at all.
