Shotgun FC and Perlite

Im using the shotgun FC, and perlite. My question is, if there are holes drilled in all 6 sides including the top and bottom, wont the water from the perlite leak out onto the floor? Im thinking that all the water in the perlite will leak through the holes in the bottom, and get all over the floor. If someone could answer this for me, it would put my mind at such ease.
AND. Im using the PFTek. I forgot to take the tape off of the holes on the tops of the jars, is that ok? or should i be taking it off.

There should be no standing water in your perlite.
The only time the water will ever drain out of the perlite is most likely within the first hour you put the perlite into the chamber. Tilt the chamber to the side (before cakes go in) and watch the excess water drain out (if there is any) once any excess water is drained out there wont ever be any more excess water at the bottom again, make sure you drain your perlite well when you soak it in your sink.
i recommend taking the tape off the jars once you see colonization to the size of a dime, then watch the mycelium start to take off like flies on shit!
don't keep the tape on all the way through because it prevents gas exchange and slows mycelium growth.
K. SG chambers rock!
P.S - Alan Watts iz da shit.

the perlite should be damp, not wet. thats why you soak, then drain it well. it should be fine.
take the tape off, the dry vermiculite barrier is there to prevent contams from entering, and the tape just hinders FAE. they need to breathe!
good luck

technically the tape hinders gas exchange not fresh air exchange.
Still great advice though

I bet SG does rock.... I messed up my container and drilled holes that were too big. So I switched to a pmp.

Go to hardware store and spend 2 bucks on a 1/4 inch drill bit. It's totally worth it. SG chambers are AMAZINGLY efficient and convenient.
