 [MYSTERY SOLVED] scene from a movie I'm thinking of.

It may have been black and white -- I feel like it was, but that could be just my memory.
Anyway, the scene:
A young man is soon to be killed (or otherwise soon to die, I really have no idea what the context was), and he's asked: "any last words?"
To which he looks up replies with empty sadness, "I can't think of anything."
Ring any bells? I really wanna figure this out.

I'm almost completely positive that nobody had any last words in Fight Club. Anyway, I don't think that's it.

Aahh, shit, it IS Fight Club! I was thinking of the scene completely differently, but yeah, that probably is where I got it from. When he's taped to the chair and everything ...
Good ol' IMDB.
Kinda ruins it for me though ... I don't even like Fight Club.
I was remembering/envisioning a much better character from a much better movie.
Maybe I'll write it up myself ...
Of course, then I'd be using an idea I got from Fight Club ... which would be fucking weak.
God damn, what an unsatisfactory outcome.

That's just it though, it's "cool." It's entertainment. Better than most, I'll grant you, but still not great.
Or, put another way: I set my bar for media higher than is reasonable, because I enjoy the false sense of moral/artistic superiority that I derive from dismissing anything which falls below my arbitrary standards.

Waking Life I threw in 'cuz I couldn't think of five; but sir, I ain't gonna budge on those top three. It's entirely possible that I've left out a film or films which I should include among them, but all three of them certainly deserve a shot at my top five. I'd have to be forgetting a lot of films to bump more than one of them out.
However, as I intimated in one of my previous posts, I have no commitment to the idea that my criteria for movie selection are reasonable.

I dunno...I tend to like films like 'Requiem for a Dream' and 'A Broken Life'
(i.e. crap that'll get yer noggin movin without being all melodramatic about it)

You know I've never actually seen either of those. Requiem for a dream has been recommended to me numerous times but I've never remembered to check it out. A Broken Life I haven't even heard of.

Man I just watched the "A Broken Life" trailer on youtube and it looked ridiculously corny. Some people use "ridiculously" as a generic intensifier but here I mean it literally.
