Why do hot peppers, habanero being the most recent one i have eaten, burn going in and out of you? Yet they don't burn while in your digestive system... why is this? what makes your mouth and ass susceptible to the burning sensation but not, say, your lower intestine?

No clue, but they do hurt my stomach though, if I eat them on an empty stomach.

the acids in your stomach are pretty damn powerful...I forget the example, but they can burn through something ...lol I guess that doesnt help. Seriously though they are surprisingly powerful acids

Trust me they burn the fuck out of your stomach.
Maybe not your intestines, but if you eat a HOT Habanero (Store bought or immatue ones are weak), on an empty stomach, your stomach will be burning much worse than both the pain in your mouth and your ass IME

Well, if you think about it, capsaicin triggers heat receptors; Therefore, you probably wouldn't feel it deep inside given that there is really no need for heat receptors to be there in your body
If you think about it, could you consume something hot enough to trigger something a heat response after the time it takes to reach there? That would probably have killed you already assuming you could make it past the involuntary heat/pain reaction in your mouth hole

I love spicy food.
Wet naps in the bathroom are a must after a good batch of my winter chili.

i once worked with a guy who said he could eat any pepper no matter how hot and not even flinch. so me being the asshole that i can be, brought 2 habeneros to work that day. then he got all nervous and was wanting money to do it so i got 8 folks to pitch in 5 bucks each. he put both of them in his mouth and started chewing away. it took about 10 seconds for the intensity to become unbearable for him. the look on his face and the sounds of his groans will never leave my memory. he was in hell. then we laughed at him.

Lol yeah I did the same thing to my friend, gave him one of my homegrown habs.
Id LOVE to find/buy/grow a naga jolokia (ghost pepper). They are 3 times hotter than habaneros

I can eat any hot pepper you put in front of me. I'll make faces and turn red, but I've gone through about 35 habanero's in 2 weeks, it was like 35 peppers in this shopping bag I had bought from some amish folks. I sat in my dorm this year typing papers eating hot peppers chugging milk. I should have taken a picture because I had a jar of banana peppers, some jalepenos, then a big bag of habanero's around my computer.
