what happens when i put my passport over an RFID credit card reader?
    #10735445 - 07/24/09 09:24 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

im curious, both use RFID tech, and i would be willing to bet that the early version of rfid credit card terminals would read the rfid of a passport.......... what they would do with it would be interesting to see...

im going to go try it out later on tonight, i think mc'donalds accepts rfid credit cards...

Wait, you don't even have an RFID reader? You're going to hold your passport over the RFID reader at McDonalds? I'm pretty I know what will happen.

Next, try putting your driver's licence in an ATM. Wowee!

It will probably read data in an unrecognizable format and go beep.

An RFID reader is going to ignore data it doesn't recognise. It's not going to emit sparks and start smoking.

Well, go ahead, prove me wrong

i still havent gotten around to going to mcdonalds, which is a good thing IMO.

perhaps ill go there tonight and check it out, order up a hot fudge sundae

i dont expect it to start smoking, but i think it should do something, some sort of error....

the only other place i know of RFID technology being actively used is in pet microchips, and at walmart to tag pallets.....
