ARGH! Fruiting IN my jars.
    #10720914 - 07/22/09 01:19 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

I have ten jars in a rubbermaid tub kept around 80% theyve been in there for like 11 days or so. Just waiting for em to finish on the bottom and i check em today and they are fruiting all around the top. One has like a 2 inch mushie wrapping around the top. WTF!? What could have caused this and i was planning on doing a monotub. Can i pick em off and break em down and into the coir or will that not work? Any advice? I could do a shotgun if i have to.

Bump for any ideas on what to do with them. A search revealed likely causes but can i still smash em up and spawn to bulk? Thanks!

Grains? If so what type and how did you prep them? Did you shake them at all during colonization? Why were they in a rubbermaid tub, were you incubating them?

Once they've fruited in vitro there's not a lot of biological viability left in terms of spawning to a bulk substrate. Pick out the fruits, clean the jars and start over.

Bumping is also bad form; the more likely answer as to why you have not had many replies is that you have provided little to no information for us to base our theories on, not the fact that people aren't seeing your thread.

You can pick the mushrooms off and still spawn to bulk. It will work, unless contaminates take over of course.

"Once they've fruited in vitro there's not a lot of biological viability left in terms of spawning to a bulk substrate."-Could you elaborate?

BRF jars are horrible for spawning IMO.

Take them out of the jars, cut the un-colonized portions off, and fruit them as cakes.

If you want to do a bulk grow, move onto whole grains.
