Exactly how important is humidty?

How important is maintaining high humidty during the Fruiting stage?

Is it possible to create humidty from products that are in the the average home?

Why don't you read a little bit first, and then post a question...

Well, just think in terms of the basic requirements for pinning as outlined in the teks - a drop in temp from it's colonization setting; diminished CO2 (so you fan a few times a day); and humidity requirements in the range of 95%+ for cakes, and ten percent or so less for casings. Certainly if the humidity was significantly below these parameters you could expect difficulty in getting the cakes/casing to flush at all. Off the top of my head I'm not sure what a humidity level above, say, 90% would mean for a casing, increased likelihood of contamination, perhaps.

To a degree it is important. For optimal yields it is important. But it is possible to produce fungus with a varying RH. You may recall mycofiles bulk neglect tek and know that he sometimes would forget to mist a day here and there. There are others that do it too. It didn't affect his 8oz flueshes. Also, cardboard boxes lined with plastic will hold humidity, but not as well as a terrarium. If you were for example using a cardboard box as your fruiting chamber and didn't stick to a strict misting regieme (accidently letting days slip by without misting) I would be willing to bet that there would not be that much difference in say an aquarium style fruting chamber that was misted regularly. Just my opinion.

The shroomwizard doesn't say anything about a terrarium in his grow guide. I put my casing in a tupperware shoebox (small casings), pour in a bit of water(not on casing but in shoebox), and then cover the top with plastic wrap.
