That picture is awesome, nice shot. It kind of looks like Laccaria laccata, but not too sure.

Bonjour et merci à vous 2 :-)
Finally I think you are right, Roy. I will go for a Laccaria mushroom. For the species I'm not enough sure and for now I'll stay with Laccaria sp.
Cheers,
Michel

I'd call it Laccaria laccata.
Nice web page. What kind of camera are you using?

Hello Alan,
Thank you for your help!
I'm hesitating between 3 mushrooms:
- Laccaria bicolor - Laccaria laccata - Laccaria nobilis
Can you confirm L. laccata? How can you distinguish it from the 2 others?
> Nice web page. What kind of camera are you using?
Thank you for your comment :-)
For this picture I used a bridge Panasonic FZ-20.
Cheers!

Laccaria laccata and amethystina are both edible, you can cook the lot and toss the stems. The stems get hard in the frying pan. I fry em up almost every year. Laccarias are better than they look.

There is a lot of obscurity between species in this group.
Microscopy is required to separate some of the nearly identical species, but then some species clusters cannot be teased apart even with microscopy!

Laccaria nobilis is out because it is a west coast species.
You'll need a microscope to differentiate between L. bicolor and L. laccata, lacking that I would just go with the more common name L. laccata.
Excellent photography, please post some more pictures any time! I take a lot of pictures of mushrooms and they never turn out quite like that.

Hello Alan,
Hum... L. nobilis cannot be out because we have that species in Quebec. The book of R. McLean (Mushroom from Quebec and East of North America) mentionned it as the following website from Quebec:
http://mycoquebec.org/accueil.php?bas.php?trie=L&l=l&nom=Laccaria%20nobilis/%20Laccaire%20noble&tag=Laccaria%20nobilis&gro=30
Next time I will have to smell them because if I remember L. bicolor and L. nobilis smell rubber and not L. Laccata...
Thank you for your comment about my picture. It is really appreciated. I have more to come to identify :-)
Cheers,
Michel
