All right.. Here are my guesses: Its either; Amanita frostiana (which I doubt but can't be sure) or its Amanita muscaria var. formosa (The Yellow Amanita). Any help identifying these would be great!!! We have had a lot of rain in the North East lately, I am working at a golf course and mushrooms are popping up everywhere!! Happy pickings New England!!
Habitat: Found in landscaped mulch bed under a Fur/Pine tree, half total shade - half total sun
Gills: The gill color is a white or cream. The gills seem attached to the stem and subdistant?
Stem: Whitish, meaty, enlarged at base.
Cap: Yellow to Orange, white warts, 3-6 inches in diameter. Looked much better yesterday before another downpour last night.. looks like a deer got to one..
Spore print color: Coming Soon.
Bruising: No color change was observed.
Location: Picked in Vermont USA
Any help would be great!!

The Spore print Color is white.
I picked three more from the same spot and i have successfully dried all of them. If they are the right kind of Amanita I am thinking of using the ground up caps for a tea or health tonic.. Can anyone ID these? can you give me some preparation suggestions or advice?
best, abstract

Hmm. "Formosa" does not mean yellow in Latin, it means handsome, or "of form." The word for yellow in Latin is "flavus" or "subflavus" meaning yellowish. Xanthous is Greek of course for yellow. Whether to mix Greek and Latin when naming mushrooms I have no idea about. I like Amanita muscaria subflava though for the continuity. That was fun getting my dead language on too.

Here is Species 2, I found these two amanitas in a totally different spot, my guess is that they are Amanita muscaria var. guessowii..
What do you think?
Habitat: Found under a bare pine tree.
Gills: The gill color is a white or cream. The gills seem attached to the stem and subdistant?
Stem: Whitish maybe leading to yellow near the cap, somewhat tapered, slightly enlarged at base. no rings or collar, veil barely present
Cap: Yellow to red-orange, pink warts, 3-6 inches in diameter
Spore print color: white.
Bruising: No color change was observed.
Location: Picked in Vermont USA

These are the same as your other find, Amanita amerimuscaria
guessowii and formosa are obsolete variation names.
