Amanita ID

Found this mushroom growing by itself a few feet from the base of a pine tree. It has a yellow orange cap with a couple of pale yellow patches on it the stem is rigid and smooth stuffed at the base and hollow towards the top.  it had a yellow oragnge veil on the stalk which crumbled and feel apart when i picked it.  the basal bulb is smooth with no obvious universal veil remnants.  the forest floor was rather dry today this was the only mushroom i saw all morning.

i'm thinking it's and Amanita flavoconia.  does this seem right to you guys?

anybody know if it's an edible, an ibotenic acid/muscimol containing variety or a deadly variety?  my field guides all say unknkown.

a few web sites listed it as possibly containing cyclopeptides but no conclusive data available.  are they worth eating, active or at least good tasting? it smells like it should be delicious

They are yummy, but not psychoactive..

As far as i know, i'm one of only two people who have reported eating this species.:crazy2:

I believe Cactu eats Amanita flavoconia var. inquinata in Mexico.
