Looking for suggestions on triple stir plate w/ adjustable speed project

Ok so I want to build a stir plate housing 3 80mm fans. I haven't decided on what I'm housing it in yet. First thing I need to do is figure out how I need to wire my components without burning out any fans, etc.
Here are some pics of what I have to work with so far:
The 3 fans are DC 12V. One also reads 1.4W, another says 0.07A-0.09A, and the third reads 0.16A
Unfortunately I don't have any of the documentation on the fan controller. I believe it was a thermalright or thermaltake product. Anyway, I basically need to know how to connect this all up.
I'm guessing I only want to use one of the AC adapters shown, but which one? My wild guess is I should wire one of the AC adapters to the power of the fan controller, then wire each fan individually to the seperate fan connections?
How can I figure out which prongs are positive and negative on the fan controller? I guess I can figure that out by plugging in everything like it was still in a pc, then I can see black and red for each connection.
Also, is there a way to wire to the fan controller terminals without soldering? I've never done it before although I spose it can't be all that difficult to figure out and wouldn't cost me too much.

Use the big LiteOn power supply. If you don't have a voltmeter, you can hook a fan up across the terminals. It won't hurt anything to run it backwards. So that will tell you which pins are which. You can buy connectors to fit that at Radio Shack, probably. Or just wrap the wire and/or solder it.
so that has four individual speed controls? Very cool. But it's dusty- vacuum it or blow it out with compressed air.

God Doc_T, he does not need a BIG LiteOn Power Supply for that. The Smallest Computer power supply is 250w which is about 200w more than you need. You can pick up the cheapest one you can find and use it. Look up wiring for modern power supplies, there are two leads you will have to cross to make it come on. Which ones depend on the power supply maker and the colors they used.
One of the fans looks to have the standard 3 prong connector, If the others don't have it, I would toss them and get ones that do, those types of fans are cheep.
The Computer Power Supply will plug into the controller and the fans with the three prong connectors will plug in on the board where is says "FAN1", "FAN2", etc
The knobs control on/off and speed of the fans.
However, I am not sure that the magnetic field set up for the fans will be enough to spin a stir bar through what ever your put them in and the glass jar.

The fan with the 3 prong connector still only has 2 wires to it. I thought the third wire in comp fans were for speed management by the mobo or something to that effect? I shouldn't need that third wire I thought?

I'm going to try to build a housing for the fans, and then just a thin peice of glass over top to set jars on. I can buy some decent rare earth magnets that hopefully should do the trick.
As for the ac adapter, would either one be ok to use?

No the third wire is for a temperature sensor on the fan. Most computer fans have a temp sensor that will turn them on if the temp is above a given point.

Should it matter then which AC adapter I use?

You want the one that provides the right voltage. That four wire connector has four voltages, 12v, 5v, Ground, -5v. (I think.) But I suspect you only need two- 12v and ground. But maybe 5v too for the IC's on the board. Hard to say without seeing the thing in person, truthfully.

Bigger of the two in the pic, I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

How do I tell which connector is which without a voltmeter?
Also, the AC adapter only has 2 wires, so I'm obviously not going to be able to give it the 5v since my supply only outputs in 12v right?

The controller you have breaks that out for you, there is a plug in it for the computer power supply. It handles breaking out the power and powering the fans.

Ok so how can I determine which wires from the ac adapter need to go to which of the 4 terminals on the power connector of the controller?

Use a cheep computer power supply and you do have to worry about it.

Oh, good point!
... if it's not a 'smart' power supply that needs a motherboard attached.

No, the smart power supplyes have a set of pins in the 24 pin connector that when jumper'd will turn it on.
Look at pin 14 here

I'd rather not have to incorporate a large bulky CPU power supply to this thing. Any other ideas besides that?

OK according to this post herethe yellow and black wire next to it are the terminals I need to use. The +12V DC & 12V Ground on the fan controller I can determine by plugging any molex connector in and then the yellow/black wire should correspond to those 2 terminals correct?
Then all I need to do is determine which of the 2 wires from the AC adapter is the 12V and which is the ground right?
In order to do that I think I'm going to need a voltmeter though.

Or an LED. The flat side of an LED is the negative side, and it only lights up one way.
Edit- or just use the fan. If it spins the right way fine,if not just switch the wires. The fan really doesn't care which way it turns.

Not so much concerned with the fan connections as the power connection to the controller.
I think I've got it figured though. The guy at radioshack said the wire coming from the AC adapter with the white stripe on it is the ground wire, so that makes it easier on me

Well I went through all that and 1 of 2 things happened:
1. The fan controller was already dead 2. I fried the fan controller and it's no longer operational
So, there goes my project.
Guess I'll just do a single stir plate.
